Understanding the Journey to Counselling

Starting counselling can feel a bit overwhelming and that’s completely okay. It’s natural to have mixed feelings – whether it’s nervousness about opening up to someone new or uncertainty about what to expect. Remember, taking this step is a brave and positive choice and many others have felt just like you when beginning their counselling journey.
At BB Counselling, I totally understand that it can be tough to share your thoughts and feelings. That’s why I’m committed to creating a warm, welcoming space where you can feel comfortable and supported. We’ll work together at your pace, exploring what matters most to you in a way that feels right. Think of counselling as a partnership – I’m here to walk alongside you, helping you navigate your feelings and experiences with care and understanding. You’re not alone on this journey and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
What to Expect from Working Together

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation.
If you feel comfortable moving forward with counselling, I will ask you to review and complete a Consultation Form before our first session together. Completing it in advance is helpful, but if you’re unable to do so, that’s perfectly fine – it simply allows us to make the most of our time together. I will also send you the Counselling Contract for your review and signature.
During our first session, we will discuss the Consultation Form and I will ask you some questions about the issues you’d like to address. We’ll also review the Counselling Contract and if possible, decide on the number of sessions and their frequency.
If you’re ready to continue, we can schedule additional appointments and collaboratively select the approach that best suits your needs – whether it’s Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or a combination of these methods.
Please note that I currently offer one-on-one sessions and can only work with adults aged 18 and over. I do not provide couples therapy or group therapy.
